Got the notification while at the gym. Read it on the treadmill. Got dizzy. Totally worth it.
I felt this on a deep level. A few months ago I found myself thinking “I need to tweet this” after every single funny-ish thought came to my brain and then it hit me. I don’t need to have every single thought of mine about every single thing broadcasted for the whole world. Nobody other than me cares that much and I should be putting this much effort in listening and understanding other people and other perspectives instead of always feeling like the lights should be on me and my one-woman show. Really loved this, Mónica!
Matilde! This is everything, omg, thank you 😭 (these are happy tears)
I think it's great that the world gets to see our views, truly-I would be a hypocrite if I was trashing that behavior while having a newsletter that is 98% personal thoughts and unsolicited opinions haha. Even with the whole discourse around posting being "selfish", I still think we should all have the space to post whatever we feel like (hateful / harmful content not included, of course). What "triggers" me the most about this whole topic is when people are openly rude or annoying towards anyone who doesn't share the same opinions, and they feel personally attacked if anyone goes into their very public space to add another angle or question a particular point. Of course there are many people out there who only disagree to pick a fight, but when someone is nicely trying to make their point come across, who are we to be rude just because it's different from ours? This is what keeps me up at night haha
Thank you for being on that side and also sharing your view, and keep posting your funny-ish thoughts <3
Such a good piece! One thing that came to mind while reading was how a friend of mine who used to always say “I love it when people have niche hobbies” - it really used to bug me, because my hobbies are your average “likes doing triathlons; or any of the 3 sports involved; and weightlifting; basically: I like being active”. And somehow, that always made me feel less than for this particular friend. Eventually I realised that I like my hobbies and that’s why they are MINE. Screw what other people think is cool or not! I just need friends who take an interest and find my hobbies cool too 😄
Kate! Thank you so much for reading 💌 Couldn’t agree more, and I can definitely relate to those feelings. I still struggle with them from time to time, but I find that constantly comparing myself to others and taking everything so personally “kills” the joy of being me and doesn’t allow me to fully enjoy what I love. Glad we’re getting to that place of “screw it” in a healthy way 🫶🏽 and being more at ease with ourselves and what we love!

Thank you my dear friend <3
